Music Monday

And before I start, it may say posted on tuesday, but for me it's till monday cause it's only 12:42 am. But anyway moving on, today's artist on music monday is Drake. Drake is a Canadian born musician and actor who first got his start on the hit Canadian tv series Degrassi: The Next Generation. He then started his music career in 2006 with the release of mixtape entitled Room for Improvement, but it wasn't until 2010 when his first studio album came out that he hit success big time. With hit singles like Over, Find Your Love and Fancy theres no denying Drake had talent. His sophmore album Take Care Came out in November and hit number 1 right away with major songs like Headlines and Take Care featuring Rihanna. He is set to tour the US this spring/summer and if he's coming to a city near you it is definitely a good show and worth every penny.

Fashion Friday

Todays Fashion Friday is a bit of a change up, instead of doing an outfit from my wardrobe I thought I would choose an outfit worn by a celebrity and tell you where you can get it. So today I'm going to feature the outfit from English actress Michelle Keegan, she can be seen on the tv series Coronation Street. I love her style, it's always chic and has a bit of an edgy look to it. Oh and all prices are in pounds considering all the shops are from the UK but you can order them in multiple countries.

Fashion Fix

This week I went for a little casual outing to spend a chapters gift card I had gotten for Christmas. I bought a vegetarian cook book and of course my monthly copy of InStyle. InStyle has been my go to fashion magazine for a year or so. Most of the things I learn about fashion are within the pages of that magazine. The articles are insightful and really put emphasis on individual style and how to own your personal look. This months issue is my favourite issue, the jam packed issue for spring, I just love it when they add double the pages and double the magic that is fashion. Anyway, after I bought my book and magazine I headed directly to the closest coffee spot for a little downtime to catch up on this springs new looks, and with this issue there is definitely alot to catch up on.

Music Monday

Todays artist on Music Monday is the sensational and incredible Jessie J. She is a musician from Enlgand with a voice that can put anyone in awe. When her first single Price Tag came out it was a massive hit, you couldn't turn on the radio without hearing the song. I didn't start listening to her until a couple months ago when her song Domino was released, after that I bought her whole album on iTunes and it was A-MAZING. Her sound is a mix of pop with R&B and a bit of rap on songs like Do It Like A Dude. Her voice has an incredible range and can hit notes without even trying. She's all over the industry right now with appearances on Saturday Night Live, The Virgin Festival in England and a tour that began just this month it's likely Jessie J will be around to stay. If you haven't heard her music I suggest you do it now and if you haven't bought her album it's worth all the money. For great quality upbeat tunes and some more slower ballads her album Who You Are won't leave you dissapointed.

Fashion Friday: 50's Inpire

What I'm Wearing
H&M Peter Pan Collar Black and White Top
Monsoon Retro Flare Jeans
Vanity Multi-Coloured Bubble Gum Bracelet
Ardene Pearl Necklace & Teal Stone Ring
Forever 21 Tan Leather Boots
Before I continue any further I must tell you that my camera is currently in the shop right now being fixed so I had to take the pictures with my iPhone, but hopefully my camera will be up and ready for next week.

I recently went shopping downtown this week to get some inspiration for my next fashion friday and came upon this cute little vintage store, it had everything in it from books to furniture, cute little china and teapots. Right away when we went in I had this feeling of being thrown back to the 50's when everything was bright and colourful nothing was dull and muted. My girlfriend and I tried on some old fur jackets and funky hats it was such an inspiration for me to try and find that vintage look in modern stores today. I knew peter pan collars were definitely a must have this spring so right away that was the first thing I looked for. Then it was adding a bit of colour with the bubble gum bracelet. After that I was on a mission for pearls, every girl needed pearls back in the 50's. Since it's only March and I live in Canada not really the warmest place on earth I thought I would opt for some retro flare jeans instead of an 'A line' skirt. Anyway there you have it my 50's inspire vintage look without even going vintage.

Music Monday (On Tuesday)

Hey guys sorry about they late post for music monday i've been really busy and had so much work that needed to be done, but anyway moving ahead. Todays artist featured on Music Monday is Calvin Harris, he is a Scottish singer and DJ, he first came to the publics attention with the release of his first album entitled I Created Disco and with that everything took off. He released a follow up album in 2009 called Ready for the Weekend featuring hit singles You Used To Hold Me and I'm Not Alone. His sound is a mix of pop, electronic, and dance, with the brilliant use of synthesizers left and right on his songs it's hard not find them catchy. Harris' talent obvisously does not go unoticed he has been been nominated for multiple awards including a BRIT for Best British Male and numerous others. His current single Feel So Close is currently climbing the charts and is sure to be a hit. So you have a chance to see Mr. Harris I strongly suggest you do, not only will you have a good time but your views and outlook on modern dance and electro music will completely change. Calvin Harris, you have my stamp of approval.

Fashion Friday: The Rock N` Roll Effect

So it's my first Fashion Friday and today it`s all about the rock and roll look. I recently went to a concert and decided to really show my edgy look, so I went all out and adorned a leather jacket mixed with dark wash skinny jeans, some killer wedge booties and to top it off a feather extension. This look was perfect for the concert it added that bit of grunge look with a feminine touch with help from the booties. This was my first ever leather article of clothing I had bought beside a purse here and there, I never thought I would be a leather kind of person I've seen many women rock leather before but I never thought it would look good on me, but right away when I tried it on I loved it. I'd say buying a leather jacket is definitely an investment piece, when your going to buy one spend a good amount of money cause nothing is better than a real leather jacket. My booties were also an investment piece, I'm not one to splurge alot on a pair of heels or wedges but when I find a good pair I usually spend a good junk of change. They were the perfect shoe for me that night I didn't have to worry about falling into any grates cause there was no stiletto heel to accomplish that and the wedge was the perfect height that I could go for a drink before, walk around, buy a shirt and scope out the area. I wear these booties with everything and anything I recently went out for my sisters birthday dinner and paired them with a nice rose print dress and the shoes were even that comfortable that I wore them to the bar afterwards definitely a good sign that my feet didn't hurt the slightest the morning after. P.S. all my Fashion Fridays can be found when you click on the Style Files label, and in the Style Files section will be the fashion friday from that week.
What I'm Wearing
H&M leather jacket
Vintage white top with black embelishments
Miss Selfridge dark wash denim jeans
New Look grey and black wedge booties
Feather extension I made myself

Metro Chic

If you know anything about me you know that I love nail polish, I am a fanatic. The only time I'm not wearing it that couple of minutes in between taking the old colour off and a new coat on. Lately i've been addicted to muted more subdued colours like the one I recently bought on a trip to Sephora, Metro Chic. Not only is it a perfect combination of grey and brown but as I was enjoying my dail Starbucks tea latte my mom noticed that they had a slight hint of violet in them. I absolutely love this colour it's very professional for work or you can play it up with some glitter on top for that extra pow, I'd say this is definitely the hottest colour for spring. Just put on a base coat and top coat (I use Rimmel London Base Coat and Top Coat Pro) and your good to go.

Music Monday

Hey guys, sorry it took so long for another music monday I won't slack anymore. Anyway this week I'm featuring a band titled The Black Keys. They are a two piece (lead guitarist and singer Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney) Ohio based rock band who have been in the industry since 2001. Their music is a collection of up tempo rock to soulfull blues, and fans can hear all of that on their newly released album El Camino. They are currently set to embark on a U.S. and Canada tour so I would seriously reccomend them to anyone who enjoys having a good time and listening to some great quality music.

Music Monday

So today is my first Music Monday!! I will be featuring a new artist every Monday from my library of music. Todays artist is a band from England, they are The Wanted. They are a boy band from the UK featuring 5 lads and already have 3 number one singles. I recently heard them a couple months ago and can't stop listening!!! I automatically had to upload all their songs onto my ipod. They just released their second album titled Battleground which features a wide variety of sounds from pop to soul to rock and everything in between. They also recently dawned the stage of the Ellen Degeneres Show to play their new single Glad You Came and will be touring the U.S. till February 12 so if your in the U.S. near one of the venues they will be playing at please do see them. I recommend this band to any music listener who loves and eclectic mix of different sounds all blended into one album. Great band, great album.

New Year Another Investment

So it's the time of year where people make new years resolutions and usually break them, I never make resolutions cause I just always set myself up for failure. Instead I make new years investments!! This year my investment piece were these cute leopard print desert boots I got this year from Payless for just $54.99. I love em' their comfortable and go great with a casual look or I sometimes pair them with bright pink pants I recently purchased. Defiantly worth it! xxx Haley
